Vulnerable Interfaces is a web-to-print archive showcasing artwork from experimental publishers. Developed simultaneously for both digital and print media, the project explores a new approach to digital book layout, that combines code and design into a unified practice.
The archive was created through collaboration, featuring contributions from a range of experimental publishers. The design process focused on accessibility, preservation, and open collaboration, ensuring that the archive remains accessible as a website and printed book.
Wireframes and prototypes were developed in Adobe Illustrator and revised through rounds of feedback. The front-end was built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Paged.js was integrated to enable web-to-print functionality, allowing users to generate printable layouts directly from the archive.
Key features include a user-friendly interface, a dynamic web-to-print system powered by Paged.js, and a collaborative workflow reflecting experimental publishing. A limited-run of curated printed books was produced, mirroring the website’s content.
Vulnerable Interfaces worked successfully as both a digital platform and a print-ready archive, demonstrating the connection between publishing and web technologies. This project helped strengthen my skills in UX/UI design, front-end development, and integrating web and print media. It also highlighted the importance of iterative design and collaboration in building meaningful digital experiences.
